Intern Architect Position:
As an Intern Architect, you'll work as part of an experience-based, highly interactive architectural team providing project support to the principals and licensed architects. Each day, you'll participate in the architectural design process of municipal/commercial facilities and help develop alternative solutions and presentation graphics used to communicate concepts to the client. You'll also support schematic design, design development, construction document phase, and construction phase activities.
Interns have the opportunity to attend construction site visits, attend lunch and learns, and participate in design critiques. The primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following and may be reconsidered by management at any time.
Minimum Qualifications:

The completion of a four-year undergraduate program in Architecture.

Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Excel, and Microsoft Word.

Ability to communicate effectively and develop professional relationships within a variety of disciplines.

Maintaining timely, effective, and honest communications with management and clients.

Participating in personal and company growth as a cooperative and creative member of the team, openly accepting other responsibilities as requested by management.

Preferred Qualifications:

Assisting in field verifications/measurement & record documentation.

Product research and document preparation.

Knowledge and experience in the design of building envelope systems using common building materials.

Ability to generate ideas creatively in design development and presentation production.

Strong working knowledge of Photoshop and Sketch-up, V-Ray.

Knowledge and experience in preparation of preliminary design documents and contract documents (including construction drawings and specifications)

Experience reviewing contractor submittals and providing construction follow-up.

Staff / Project Architect Opportunity:
Are you looking for an expertise-based collaborative work environment producing projects with a reputation for quality throughout the region? CKJT Architects, PLLC is an experience-based firm supporting work with public and private sector clients in commercial, light-industrial, municipal, educational, and federal project types for over 65 years.
We are looking for a detail-oriented, experienced Project Architect with effective communication skills and document production expertise. This position involves supporting projects throughout architectural design development, details, contract document preparation, construction administration, and project closeout.
Responsibilities:​

Plan and develop architectural projects, supporting the resolution of design challenges during schematic design, design development, and construction documents phases.

Collaborate with the Principal Architects: recognize issues; communicate impact; seek clarity as needed to complete work.
-
Make design and documentation decisions using discretion and good judgment.
-
Collaborate with project A&E team to ensure design intent and conformance to quality assurance, quality control, and best practices.

Direct and coordinate consultants as needed.
-
Participate in project reviews regarding project costs, budgets, and adherence to schedules.
-
Meet with Client and Contractor(s) to develop and clarify contract documents.

Guide and mentor junior staff assigned to the project. As a member of this firm, you will be expected to support junior team members by providing the guidance needed to maintain our high project standards and increase their knowledge/skills.

Minimum Qualifications:​

Five (5) years of professional experience in the full practice of Architecture.

Licensed in Washington as Registered Architect in good standing with the State or ability to apply for reciprocity.

Proficient knowledge of construction terminology and methods.

Intermediate knowledge of zoning codes and building codes and their implications for design.

Ensure accuracy and completion of all project document-related tasks while maintaining firm-wide documentation procedures and standards.

Ability to self-motivate and be organized with a willingness to ask questions for clarification, propose solutions and make decisions.

Effectively manage your time and time of junior staff assigned to your projects.
Additional Desired Qualifications:​

Ten (10) plus years of professional experience in the full practice of architecture.

Experience with Remodels, Renovations, Additions, & Modernizations.

Experience in Photoshop & SketchUp.

NCARB Certificate Holder.

Knowledge of sustainability, integrated design. LEED Certified is a plus.

Additional industry certifications. Roofing Certifications & OSPI are a plus.
